Hello everyone - Ian here! Apologies I've been a bit quiet but I've been recovering from an operation I had on my shoulder just before Christmas.
Pleased to say the recovery is going well touch wood, so by the end of January I should be ready to get hosting walks again. My first one back will once again be at Three Sisters Nature Reserve in Ashton-in-Makerfield on Saturday, 22nd January 2022 at 10am.
Our meeting point for your Sat Navs will be Three Sisters Road, WN4 8DD.
The road is on a bend in an industrial estate. A big sign saying the hamlet is at the start of Three Sisters Road. Go down to the bottom and turn right, the first car park has plenty of parking. We'll meet at 9:45am and aim to start on the walk about 10am.
I've done the walk with the dog. It's a bit muddy so suitable footwear is needed. Some of the walk is also uphill, so maybe a little bit of a challenge if you struggle with asthma, as I do. I did the walk in 40 mins just ambling along with my dog.
There is also a place approx 200 metres on the flat where there is a cafe called The Nest, which has an outside space to stop if people want to get a drink, called The Nest Cafe. There is also a lake in front of it and a small park.
All gents welcome for some good exercise, supportive ears and a safe environment to talk about whatever is on your mind. Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year and look forward to seeing you all on 22nd!
Take care and speak soon,
Ian Gibson (W&T4M Walk Leader, Ashton-in-Makerfield)
