UPDATE: All of our walks in November are being held in memory of Lucas Backhouse. For more information about this please visit our most recent blog here: http://www.walkandtalk4men.com/blog/remembering-lucas-backhouse-2003-2021/
Hello everyone, please let me introduce myself!
My name is Ian Gibson. I first got to know about W&T4M through Bob Flood who does the Preston walks. I am delighted to be joining the brotherhood as one of our newest walk leaders.
I warmly invite all gents in the Ashton-in-Makerfield area to join us for our first walk on Saturday 20th November. Our meeting point for your Sat Navs will be Three Sisters Road, WN4 8DD.
The road is on a bend in an industrial estate. A big sign saying the hamlet is at the start of Three Sisters Road. Go down to the bottom and turn right, the first car park has plenty of parking. We'll meet at 9:45am and aim to start on the walk about 10am.
I've done the walk with the dog. It's a bit muddy so suitable footwear is needed. Some of the walk is also uphill, so maybe a little bit of a challenge if you struggle with asthma, as I do. I did the walk in 40 mins just ambling along with my dog.
There is also a place approx 200 metres on the flat where there is a cafe called The Nest, which has an outside space to stop if people want to get a drink, called The Nest Cafe. There is also a lake in front of it and a small park.
All gents welcome for some good exercise, supportive ears and a safe environment to talk about whatever is on your mind. Really looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!
Ian Gibson (W&T4M Walk Leader, Ashton-in-Makerfield)
